Jeram Besu (Besu Rapids) is located on Sungai Lipis at approximately 6 km before the town of Benta and about 2 1/2 hours drive from KL. Once considered un-runnable, this rapid has now attracted a lot of white water enthusiasts i.e. rafters, kayakers and canoeists from all over the country even as far as Singapore. Complemented by its easy accessibility the surrounding area has boomed from a nothing place to become a local youth center with facilities and several eating shops.
Jeram Besu is apart from Fraser’s Hill, other recreational areas in Pahang include the Lata Jarum Watefalls and the Jeram Besu Rapid. The former is just 30 kilometres from Raub while the latter is only about 3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. Jeram Besu is fast gaining popularity as one of the most challenging white water-rafting areas in the country. Raub is one of the oldest towns in the State of Pahang. It began as a gold mining town in the early 19th century. Remains of its colonial past are evident in the old buildings scattered around the town.
Facilities in Jeram Besu: Chalet, White Water rafting, Canoeing, Kayaking, Jungle Tracking, Camping Area, Abseiling, Flying Fox, Fishing Day & Night.

Moving out of Kuala Lumpur from the Karak toll at 7 am, we should arrive at Jeram Besu at about 10am. We will do the Jeram Besu first run and then shuttle back to Jeram Besu for lunch at about 1230pm. After lunch we will run the main rapids at Jeram Besu.
Depending on water level, the main rapids at Jeram Besu can be Grade 2 or middle degree of difficulty. When rescue personnels are in position the first raft will commence the run. As rescuers rotate, the next raft will make the run. We can do 2 or 3 runs depending on the availability of time and willingness of participants to portage. We must leave Jeram Besu by 3pm for the second run to Benta.
After Jeram Besu the river cuts through a beautiful rocky surroundings. There will be 5 more rapids Grades 1 to 2. This last 5km will take approximately 1 1/2 hours. We will put out from the left bank of the river about 100 meters after the pre-war Benta bridge. After cleaning the rafts, participants will carry them up by the road to dry. The trip should end by 4.30 pm. The participants may change into dry or drive back to Jeram Besu for a shower and depart for Kuala Lumpur. Expect to be back in Kuala Lumpur by about 8 pm.
