The southern state to woo the tourists with its own official song that reflects its unique identity
JOHOR will soon have its own anthem that celebrates its unique identity to promote tourism in the state.
State Tourism and Domestic Trade Committee chairman Hoo Seong Chang said this after opening the Johor Matta Fair at the Danga City Mall Expo Hall, recently.
Hoo declined to elaborate on the lyrics and title of the song, but promised that it would be soothing to the ears.
He said while Malaysia Truly Asia was a brilliant composition, Johor’s own song would have local essence.
With numerous tourist attractions in the state, he said it was high time Johor had a song of its own.
“The song will remind the people of Johor’s identity in the tourism industry.”
Hoo said upgrading works were under way at several tourism attraction, which facilities had been reported to be in bad conditions.
“The facilities and infrastructure at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia at Tanjung Piai are now being upgraded for the better comfort to tourists,” he said.
A permanent canopy will be set up at the Tanjung Piai landmark, and the ticketing booth upgraded.
Hoo said privately-owned tourist attractions would be monitored to ensure that the facilities were up to standard
He urged those with suggestions to improve Johor’s tourism to go to the Johor Tourism Information Centre at 2, Jalan Air Molek, Johor Baru, visit http://www.johortourism.com.my, email info@johortourism.com.my or call 07-223 4935.
For those wishing to travel, meanwhile, the three-day Johor Matta Fair, offered a comprehensive range of local and international travel and holiday packages as well as airline tickets at bargain prices.
There were over 100 booths set up by the Johor Tourism Department, Tourism Malaysia, travel agencies, hotel and resort operators, among others.
